Where's my marbles?

Today was special. One child happened to bring a marble in her pocket from home, then shortly after another child  happened to bring a marble from home as well!
The two children began to build a marble race track, catching the attention of a group of other children. Shortly after Mrs.Thiele located some marbles and some plastic tubing so we could all work on building marble tracks.
Marbles can be quite dangerous for younger children so we took precaution such as only giving one marble to each child, designating a marble only area, and having a teacher supervise the marble building closely.

"Mrs.Thiele where's my marble?"

Easter eggs

We decorated some Easter eggs with paint this morning.

Painting is great practice for our fine motor control.

Yellow ducks

It's raining ,it pouring and XP is snoring! With the first rain fall of the year comes the closing of our play grounds. (with the exception of our structures and field)   It's too wet to play without wrecking  our grass and causing giant mud puddles to appear. So to save our playgrounds from destruction we go for walks or to local parks.  For that we dress up in our yellow muddy buddies and the teachers give us a partner to walk with.  Usually it's an older child with a younger child, the older child is responsible for helping guide the younger child and making sure that they keep up and stay in line. Sometimes some of the older children need to be reminded but thats ok, because they are still learning! Mr. Blatz says that we look like little ducks in our muddy buddies and our teachers agree!
Can you tell who is who?
Sometimes on our walks we have to stop and fix a mitten or a boot before we can keep walking. Everyone needs to stay where they are with there partner while we wait for the problem to be fixed.

It's so tempting to go and jump in the big puddle! But we've got to stay on the sidewalk!

Sunny Day

We sure were busy; feeling out the nice warm weather this morning.

Some of us explored the thin ice, and the puddles underneath.
We learnt the water can make our toes wet and cold.

Some of us enjoyed the sand which we've missed a lot this winter.

Some of us explored the water in a different way making soups, and mixing in bowls.

It was such a fabulous morning outside.

Outdoor rink

After all the warm weather we had a ton of water around our adventure playground. But after the cold weather all that water froze which has made some very slippery ice to play on! We spent our morning slipping and sliding on the ice seeing how far we could slide and seeing if we could find any fish living under the ice. For some of us it took all of our balancing skills to stay standing on the ice and for others it was easy for them to stay up and not fall down all the time. But sometimes all the slipping and sliding is what makes it fun!

Cleaning Fish Tanks

Today, March 8, 2016, we cleaned our fish tank and changed it's water. We showed our patience while waiting for our turns and teamwork as we helped each other to carry and wash our tanks.

Mrs. Cruz told us that the water in this jug contains a solution that will keep our fish healthy.
She also told us that we can not drink from this jug because it's only safe for our fish and not for our body.

"We can clean the marbles"

"I will help to put the marbles back in the tank"
"Okay. Thank you..."

"I will be very careful."

"I can carry this by myself"

"It's my turn now."

"We're rinsing and cleaning the tanks for the fish."

"Can I help you?" "Yes please."

"The fish is swimming."

"I can get the fish and put it back in the tank."

Teatree Tells "Parts of our body"

I

Last Thursday, March 3, 2016, we had our Teatree Tells Class.Mrs. Thiele named our body parts and it included our private areas. She let us point our body parts. We also have learned that our bodies are special and it belongs to us. She explained that it's not okay for someone to touch our private parts but there were exemptions such: 1. going to the doctors and being physically examined with mom and dad in the room and ; being washed by our parents. We also had a chance to color our paper dolls and bring it home.

Fish!

Today Mrs. Cruz brought us our fish! We were excited to see and name them.

"Purpley " "That's the mommy"

"Pinky! My favorite color."

"Put it on that one"

"The red fish is swimming"

Our the last one was "Redy"

We set some rules to keep our pet safe and healthy.
Here are some rules we reviewed:
We look with our eyes and not with our hands.
Keep our hands away from the tank.
Showing gentleness by not tapping on our tank.
Toys don't belong in our tank.

Dance Crew

Mrs.Cruz had so much fun today, she was the singer for our band. Lots of children joined her with music instruments, beautiful singing voices, and awesome dance moves.

Fixing the shelf

Some children had the opportunity to use real tools with Mr.Tooshkenig and Mr.Buckley today.
They used their fine motor muscles to hold the screw driver while fixing our library shelf.
This was a good reminder about why shelves are not for climbing on!

Robots

Today as the teachers came into the room one boy had something special to tell each one of them.
"I am a robot, listen to my robot voice" he said in a robotic voice

Later some children were playing with Lego... One child held up a structure he built.
"Wow that's so tall" I said
"It's a robot" he told me "see?" He said as he pointed to one of the blocks.
