😍Rainbows and Balloons😍

The children were continually drawing rainbows. They used their creativeness to show off their own unique styles in making their own rainbow designs. They were all proud of their masterpieces!

Mrs. Cruz used the colourful balloons at story time to represent each child in our Christian Preschool Room. She told us that just like the balloons we are amazing on our own but that together we are even better like a beautiful rainbow. We learned that we as a class we are like a family and we should show love, respect and kindness to each other.

                                                        "My rainbow!"
"Our balloons look like rainbow too!"

"Look!"

Today we started the day outside right at 7:30am. This gave us lots of time to explore and discover.
Some children noticed there was something covering our trees and other objects in our playground...

"Caterpillars!"
Some children wanted to hold them while others felt more comfortable watching.
"Those caterpillars kill the trees!"
"It tickles!"
"I'm dreaming about caterpillars when I close my eyes"
And then we had some caterpillar races before lunch to celebrate with our new found friends.

A field of flowers

Today we had to go and play in the field because our trees in the adventure playground were getting trimmed. There were so many dandelions in the field it was beautiful!

Running out to the field.

What are you making Mrs. Cruz?

Mrs Cruz made a dandelion crown!

 So beautiful

Hmm how did she do that?

More bubbles!

Blowing bubbles is a skill that takes a lot of patience to learn... But it sure feels good when you master it.

In the sandbox...

I found myself supervising the sandbox play this morning, children came and went and this is what I saw...

"I'm stuck, I'm stuck!"
"You're feet are buried deep"
"Let's dig her out!"
"Yeah but don't use the shovel, you might hurt her."
"We got a big stick"
"Yeah it's heavy"

"We're building a house"
"This is the door, see? You go through here."
"This circle would make a good window"
"Hmm we need a roof..." "What could we use?"

"Watch!" He stuck his sharp stick in twisting it, then after pulling it out he used his finger to measure the depth of the hole.
"I'm going to make you a cake"

Sand is a wonderful material that children are able to use in many ways. We can help foster creativity as we provide items for the children to use with the sand and support their ideas.

"Squirmy Wormy"

It was a chilly and wet outside, which meant a perfect day to dig up worms in the Adventure Playground! The Christian Preschool and Preschool 2 children showed cooperation and teamwork as they dug up worms using their sticks in the ground.
They gathered all their worms on the big rock ang observed how the worms moved. Mrs. Cruz said that we are like "worm whisperers" because we found a lot of them in a short time.
After watching the worms, we put back our worms where we found them using our bucket of dirt. We had fun and also showed respect to all living things by returning the worms to their home after we finished watching them. We can not wait to see what we will find next on our adventures... 😍

Oh what a rainy day

Rain or shine we love to play outside! We had a great morning playing in the rain, splashing in the puddles, and watching the construction work that was going on.

The rain made everything very slippery and hard to climb. Some of the children figured out other ways to help them climb up the tires. They got a smaller tire and stood on that to help them climb onto the bigger tires.

The rain did not stop the construction workers from doing their jobs either. Some of the children watched the bobcat work and move dirt and gravel around. Some of them were very excited to see the bobcat working and watched most of the time they were outside!

Some of the children wanted to stay dry so they coloured some pictures under the carport we have set up in the adventure playground.

We had a great rainy morning outside!

Construction

With the Adventure Playground all fenced off from the construction it is safe for us to play and we are so lucky to have such a great view at the work being done.

Today we watched a Bobcat moving pallets, some workers moving bricks and an excavator digging where our mud pit used to be. Everyone was very curious about what was going on.

"Where's the mud pit?"
"What are they doing?"
"Mrs.Thiele that's the excavator, he's digging"
"Oh! Where's he going? Come on!"

Lady Bug Park

I'm Because of all the construction in the back it was not safe for us to play there, so Mrs.Cruz had the great idea to take us to the park!

Some children opened up an Ice Cream shop...

"I have lots of flavours... Vanilla.... Chocolate.... 4 flavours of chocolate!"

"I'm riding in my ladybug to get to the ice cream really fast!"

"Spin me faster!"
And then we took a much needed break from the sun by drawing in the shade.
We then enjoyed a nice drink of water and a energy boosting muffin before walking back to the centre. What a nice morning.

May Day

We are so thankful to be able to spend so much time outside in this beautiful weather. Here's what we did around the Adventure playground this morning...

We have new crates outside to use for building. Here we built a staircase with a spot to jump off at the end. We noticed the crates were a little wobbly so we remembered to show caution as we climbed.

This game was throw the ball over the hill, then go under the hill to retrieve it. Even though we didn't follow the ball we found out it exactly where we thought it would be... Right on the other side of the hill!

"I'm fixing it"

Here we found spiders and ants with Mrs.Crew, we chose to watch but not touch the bugs. We wanted to see what they were up to.

One child decided she needed a stool to stand on at the big tires, another child suggested using a tire. This was a great idea but we needed to use team work to get the tire from one spot to another.
"We can do it!"

"1,2,3, GO!"

"Look how I get across!"

"There's treasure in here! I can't reach it."
"Let's use this"
These two found sticks of different widths and lengths trying to retrieve the treasure inside.

And some more cute moments...
"See what I found?"
