A beautiful day

Here's some pictures of the fun we had in Adventure Playground today.
A nice relaxing swing on the hammocks.
A quiet comfy place to read books.
"My stick is so smooth. It's so smooth cause I peeled off all the outside stuff that's all bumpy"
"I got up here all by myself!"

Have a great weekend!

A little visit

A child from the I/T room came to visit today as he will be moving into our room in a few weeks. The children were all interested in meeting him. At one point we all watched as a Bobcat got loaded onto the back of a truck.
One child went over to the new child and passed him a piece of grass she had pulled, the new child looked at it smiled and looked at her giving her a big smile. Excitedly she ran over to me "Mrs.Thiele he likes me!"
New friends are a wonderful thing.

Let us wrap

This week for our garden snack challenge we made "make your own lettuce wraps". Each child got to add ham, cheese and Caesar dressing to a big leaf of lettuce, then roll it up to make the wrap.
"I love them, I ate 5!"

Shady Ground Zero

Since the sun was so hot today, we opened up Ground Zero so everyone could play in the shade. Here are some really fun photos from our time on the play structure.

We are sure enjoying having Miss.Gordon in our room! She is fun!
Then before heading in we got to try some of our rainbow carrots from the garden. Everyone agreed they were yummy!

Water Balloons!

PS2 was very kind today and let us join in on a water balloon activity they had planned. At first we played a game of hot potato pass, the children all laughed when the water balloons made big splashes on the grass.
Then the best part was when everyone chased down Mr. Castell with their water balloons!

Kale chips

Thursday's are our set day to create a garden snack. When the children who did not nap and I went to our garden we noticed that our kale box was overflowing with kale, so we decided to make something with our kale.
Now I thought to myself what can we make with kale that the children will actually enjoy...
Kale chips!

First step:
Cut the kale at the stem and place it into a big bowl.

Second step:
Rinse the kale, then lay it out to dry.

Third step:
Rip the kale into small pieces, removing the stems.

Fourth step:
Spray oil on baking sheets and lay out the kale.

Fifth step:
Spread vegetable oil over the top of kale.

Sixth step:
Lightly season the kale with salt.

Seventh step: let it bake in the oven at 300 degrees for twenty minutes.

Last step: be amazed as you watch your children eat and enjoy vegetables 😉

King's Park

At King's Park this week we...

Found a bunch of frogs
"I'm watching the frog swimming"

Enjoyed exploring and finding lots of plants, bugs, flowers, and different types of berries.
"Smells like licorice"
"It's a monarch caterpillar"
"A raspberry!"

Climbing in the rock garden.
And a tree or two.

Finding lots of muck and mud to walk through... And play in.
"I'm making holes for the worm to go in"
"My boots! They're yucky!"

Exploring new areas and trying to learn the layout of King's park.
"Hey if this bridge is over here that means we've been going in a big circle!"
"I never saw this place before"
"Mrs.Thiele can we go adventuring again?"
